Darcelle XV Showplace Nomination
Client: Don Horn
This historic nomination for Portland's famous drag venue (as of Sept '20 in review by the National Park Service) was more challenging than any I've written before, including of large historic districts. If approved, Darcelle XV will be Oregon's first property listed specifically for its importance in LGBTQ American history. Hopefully, more places significant to marginalized cultures and communities will follow!
Historic Mitigation Work for Downtown Campus
Client: Portland State University
In order to remove two historically-eligible buildings, PSU was required to negotiate a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the State Historic Preservation Office. With Woofter Bolch Architects, I led the MOA and carried out the stipulations: State-level Documentations, a new campus RLS survey, Historic Context, and ILS (intensive-level survey) for three buildings.

A Plan for Portland's Historic Resource Inventory
Client: City of Portland, Bureau of Planning & Sustainability
This study was requested by the City, to provide a "road map" for taking a new approach to recognizing historic resources. The study was led by me, under my previous employer, and collaborating with another architecture office. The study required an in-depth knowledge of city development code, State historic survey requirements, and a comparison of other jurisdictional approaches. We were able to provide a thorough set of policy and process recommendations, some of which are already in place.
