PORTLAND LGBTQ+
HISTORY PROJECT
Client: City of Portland Bureau of Planning & Sustainability
With Salazar Architects, this project includes a survey of historic LGBTQ+ places in Portland and the nomination of 3 places to the National Register. Two of these places, Erv Lind Field at NE 57th and Halsey and the Crystal Hotel on W Burnside, are proceeding to the State Advisory Panel in March 2024. THERMAL SYSTEMS TRANSITION PROJECT FOR UO CAMPUS
Client: University of Oregon
With A/E/C firm Burns & McDonnell, this project provided a road map for revamping the existing steam heat system across the entire campus to a more efficient and sustainable system, 2022-2023. My part as historic consultant was to help recommend the best route and the necessary historic procedures for doing the work.
DARCELLE XV ADDED TO NATIONAL REGISTER
Client: Don Horn
This historic nomination for Portland's famous drag venue (added to the National Register in 2020) was more challenging than any I've written before, including of large historic districts. Darcelle XV was Oregon's first property listed specifically for its importance in LGBTQ American history. This project led to the LGBTQ+ project to recognize more places significant to marginalized cultures and communities!
